Biography
Mark Abernathy is an Austin, Texas based editorial, fine art and portrait photographer.
Born in San Francisco and raised in British Hong Kong, Abernathy took to photography at a young age, enamoured with the legendary photographers of the golden age of magazines, such as LIFE, Interview and Graydon Carter-era Vanity Fair. He is a graduate of Boston's Berklee College of Music and the former PR manager for Apollo 11 astronaut Dr. Buzz Aldrin.
Recent work has included portraits of such notables as Free Press founder Bari Weiss, New York Times number one bestselling author and Palantir founder Alex Karp, author and historian Sir Niall Ferguson, as well as four-time Top Fuel NHRA world champion Antron Brown--in addition to many notable musicians and academics. He has worked extensively with the United States military, most recently as part of Operation Northern Strike--documenting military and wargames exercises in Northern Michigan.
He is currently at work on a long-term photo project focusing on the state of Utah.
